Test email failure.

test email is failing with 'SMTP connect() failed. https://github.com/PHPMailer/PHPMailer/wiki/Troubleshooting '
Setting is external SMTP mail server that is working for all other systems except Acymailing6 (including sending test email from Joomla).
Settings are:

Using external server
SMTP server
local mail server name
Port 587 (can telnet into 587 on mailserver)
Secure method --- (works on Joomla)
Keep alive Y
Authentication Y
Username and password (same as works on Joomla server settings)

Website is Apache2 webserver hosted on AWS lightsail webserver.
Email server is Exim/Postfix hosted locally.
Resolving this problem is somewhat urgent.
I welcome your advice.

Did you click on the "Which port can I use from my website?" link to check if the port you are trying to use is open?
If not, you should make sure the port is open first before trying to send, even if you can telnet into 587 on mailserver.

You can also test your spam score in the tab tests when you edit your newsletter 🙂
