Bounce Email address not working (Gsuite Business)

I use Gmail (Gsuite Business) for sending my mailings and tested Gmail as Bounce Address and Microsoft 365, but in both cases seems that Bounce Email address isn't included or ignored by Gmail, as "Delivery Status Notification (Failure)" is sent to my FROM address.

Any idea?

Hi,

You need a bounce address that matches your domain, just like the From address.

Hi,

I use Gmail(Gsuite for Business) and tried several options.

Our generic email address is a Collaborative Inbox (info@xxxx.com) and used as FROM
SMTP login is my account (robert@xxxx.com)

Tested for bounce address:

Collaborative Inbox (sales@xxxx.com)
Separate inbox (test@xxxx.com)
Outside domain (robert@yyyy.com)

No are working, all bounces return to SMTP login setting

I assume your MX records are pointing to Google's Gsuite servers. If not, let us know.

How did you setup your smtp send options? Does Acymailing actually login to a Gsuite mailbox or are you using Google's smtp relay?

And how does Microsoft 365 fit into this?

MX records are Google mail servers. SMTP direct login as Gmail/Gsuite user.

Did some more testing and reading :-)

I assume that ACYM is adding return-path as bounce email address, but as I understand isn't according to official specification RFC 5321. According to RFC should not be send, but Google is cleaning header and replace with mail account owner address.

Some mailserver providers are still 'allowing' to add your own return-path, but must be same as domain. Read more: https://www.mailjet.com/blog/news/return-path-customization-explained/

I solved as follows:

Created a mailbox (User in GSuite) as separate to handle bounce automatic already needed, ex mail@xxxx.com
Linked Send As (Alias) address to this account info@xxxx.com

ACYM send message with FROM info@xxxx.com, Google will add return-path mail@xxxx.com

If receivers direct reply, they send to info and bounce will go to mail

Problem solved :-)
