Hi,
I'm continuing to check out version 7 (we've been using version 5 for a long time). I'm using the drag & drop editor, and can't find a way to use the 'meta' tag like I did in version 5.

The usage model we have is that our editors can create articles that are either displayed on the website (using 'Featured articles'), or included in the newsletter (using a Joomla meta keyword called 'notices'), or of course both or none. This is simple for our office staff and is quite a neat solution.

I can't see a way of achieving this at all in version 7 (even with the HTML editor). Am I missing something?

Thanks,
Ian

Can you please explain this "meta keyword" you mentioned in your message?

To be honest, I am not sure how exactly are you using that?

Hi - thanks for your reply, I can see why it's not clear, I'll try to explain our process...

Here's a section from our weekly newsletter (using tags in version 5):

{autocontent:24-| max:20| order:ordering,ASC| meta:noticesheet| type:intro| pict:resized| maxwidth:250| maxheight:250| format:TOP_RIGHT}

This adds Joomla articles to the newsletter from category id=24 ("autocontent:24") but only those articles with the Joomla article "meta keyword" set to noticesheet ("meta:noticesheet"). The meta keyword is set on the Publishing tab in the Joomla article view.

This allows us to conditionally publish articles from category 24 as follows:

  1. Featured AND meta:noticesheet => article appears on website homepage and in ACY newsletter
  2. Featured ONLY => article appears on the website homepage
  3. Meta:noticesheet ONLY => article included in the newsletter, but not on the website.

Does that make sense? It's a vital part of how we update our users each week, but it doesn't appear to be in version 7.

Thanks for your support.

As far as I know, this kind of filter is not yet implemented in version 7

I will ask our developers to check this topic. Maybe they could have some workaround advice whcih you could use

That would be great, thank you. If you need any more information about our usage, please let me know.

Hi,

Unfortunately this is not possible in v7 and currently there's no workaround. Please feel free to add it as a feature request (https://www.acymailing.com/feature-requests/). That way other users can upvote it to indicate it should get some priority.

I've added this as a feature request. Unfortunately it seems impossible to format the text nicely (and I've tried two browsers) so I guess no-one will ever read it. Is there a way of editing/deleting feature requests?

Hi,

I see similar (and better) functionality has been added in 7.5.5 using Joomla tags - this is great and more versatile than before, Thank you!

The missing element now is 'replace tags' to fix the content of the newsletter otherwise newsletters can't be queued up in advance - the content of them all changes dynamically! I will check the new feature requests, I've seen a few people asking for this already.
