I hit issues on my hosts server using the host mail service (limitations after years of problem free use) so I am testing gmail as a replacement.
I did a quick test using one of my free accounts and that seems to have worked but I realise sending newsletters via a free account can be an issue so I have registered a business account, have mall my website MX records switched over and have mail working fine but when I try and setup SMTP in Acymail 5 I get a failure (below)
I have tried 2 step verification setup with app specific passwords and the username/PW combo is working since if I change it I get a "user/password mismatch" error instead.
I am using the following settings:
smtp.gmail.com
Port 587 / TLS (Acymail reports 465 is not open)
Ideas?
