In the pre-upgrade checks before an upgrade of my site from V 3.10.10 to V4.
Some parts of Acymailing were labeled "may not be compatible with Joomla V4". At first I decided to just see what would happen if I ignored the message, but the upgrade to V4 stalled.
I went back to a backup, and decided to uninstallall extensions thus labeled. That went well, except for Acymailing. It threw the error "Undefined constant "JPATH_".
What's that? Or better: How can I force-remove the extension?

Hi,

What is the exact version number of your Acymailing?

A friend afvised me to install the Joomla-4 compatible Acymailing version 7.9.2... on top of version 5.10.4
I did, and Acymailing worked.
I will now upgrade Joomla to V4.1.5

Hi,

V5 and 7 are two completely different versions, each with their own set of database tables.. As you might have noticed they can co-exist on the same site.

I reccommend to update your v5 to the latest version and then migrate your data to v7. https://docs.acymailing.com/setup/migration

Once you have migrated your data you can uninstall your v5 and its plugins.

In case you want to continue with v5 oon Joomla 4 you need to update v5 to its latest version, which currently is 5.11.2.

a year later

Hi,

switch your PHP to 7.x and then uninstall the module

After that, switch PHP back to 8.x

That should work

You should switch your PHP version using hosting control panel and not the composer file under the Joomla root
