smtp.gmail.com not authenticating on acymailing 5

I have had this set up for years and suddenly it has stopped working!
I have check user names passwords and spent an hour and a half on the phone with Google. They have confirmed the smtp is working their end and this has been verified through https://www.smtper.net/

I have the current version of acymailing 5.10.10 but it states new plugin versions. Could this be affecting it?

I really need urgent help.

Hi,

It's probably a user/pwd or server issue. First thing you could check if Joomla can autenticate to the smtp server. All you have to do is to change the Joomla mail settings in your global config to use the smtp server instead of php mailer. Then have Joomla sending a mail, like the forgot pwd mail. If that fails too the issue is not related to Acymailing.

Can you giva that a try?
