Sending STMP mail always defaults to PHPmail

Using Acymailing 8.1.2 with Acymailing sending, Joomla 4.2.7, PHP 8.1, hosted of Godaddy
Set all setting per Acymailing instruction
Godadday set all mail setting per recommend, adding 3 Cnames per Acymailing, and DKIM settings and changed Nameserver to Godaddy
Still cannot get SMPT mail thru. Using test mail button on Acy Configuration page, returns a email to me with " configuration set OK" Sending test mail from Joomla 4 Global Configuration>Server>email returns "SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.
I am at a loss what else can I check.

Thank you for your question regarding the mail settings in Acymailing and Joomla's global config. I can confirm that they are not related in any way. For Acymailing, you need to configure the send settings in the Acymailing interface, and Acymailing will ignore the settings configured in Joomla global config.

Joomla global config is for sending system emails, and when Joomla sends these emails, it will use the settings configured in the global config. If you would like to send your system emails using Acymailing, you can use email overrides as documented here: https://docs.acymailing.com/main-pages/email-overrides
