Slow backups on Akeeba Backup

I saw this was mentioned on here once before, but my site is very slow to backup with Akeeba Backup as it takes a long time to backup the Acymailing database called "x72_acym_user_stat"

Is there any way to reduce the size of this database by clearing out some old entries or something like that? It is not a pressing issue, but because I am not supposed to navigate away from the open tab while Akeeba backup is running, the seven minutes or so it takes to complete the backup seems like a long time. Another similar site we own that does not use Acymailing takes about 30 seconds to backup, and the resulting backup file is about the same size.

You can configure Acymailing to automatically delete old statistics data in Acymailing->Configuration->Data collection. For further information on this, please refer to the link below:

Can I manually invoke this purge? I checked the box to six months, waited an hour, and acym_user_stat was still 3.4 million records.

Hi,

Acymailing automaticly removes the old statistics each time the cron is triggered. For this you need to have the Automated tasks enabled in Acymailing->Configuration->License. In case it's not active, activate it. Given the huge amount of records in the statistic table I'm not sure if these will all be deleted at once or in batches across several times the cron is being triggered.

On the same page you'll also find the cron link. You can use this to manually tigger the cron.

That was already set, and timed to daily. Maybe the CON itself isn't triggering. I'll have my tech manager investigate.

All other tasks associated with the CRON are working - only old records aren't being purged. I'm open to other suggestions to cut these records down - including phpmyadmin.

Before I open a ticket - what would happen if we archive (somehow) and delete older emails? Would that clean up that database? Is that list what is used to generate reports like this screenshot?

I am certain that deleting an email also deletes the associated user stats, but I am unsure about the global stats or stats per list.
