Statistics number of sent emails almost double number in list

I have a list that has 99 Confirmed and Enabled users. When I create and send a new newsletter, it says it is being sent to 99 users. However, once these have all been sent, the Statistics page shows a number around 190 to 195 emails sent - the numbers vary a bit but don't appear to be exactly double.

What am I missing here? Why doesn't the Statistics page show 99 sent emails?

Hi,

It seems you have send the email twice. Most often this is caused by executing the sending twice or when you have edited an already send email and send that one as a new email. In the latter case you have written a new mail, but you are still using the same email id, so it looks like it was send twice.

I can't see that's the case. I see this every time - and many (but not all) are Smart Newsletters that are sent automatically when a new news item is published on the site. I've checked the configuration settings and can't see what would cause them to be sent twice. I'm on the mailing list and I only get one copy and no one else has said they get a duplicate. I've checked there is no BCC address that might have caused it.

Do you have any other thoughts on this or how I can get to the bottom of it? It could be it's not actually an issue if only one of each is being sent out - just something that's odd.
