Modify My Profile page and readonly fields

Hello,
I created a "Modify My Profile" Acymailing page where users should land after clicking the homonym link on a List Welcome Email.
I do not understand how to show readonly fields. Despite having removed the "frontend editing", they are all still open to changes by the user...

What did I miss?

Hi,

we don't have read-only fields. If you create a field which will be shown in the user profile, the user will be able to change it

What does "frontend edition" do then?
