There should be no issues. One can subsribe multiple times (you would see a notie you are already subscribed) but that should not lead to duplicate entries in your database. The email field is a unique field.
You can run a database integrity check to see if you have any issues with your database. You'll find the option in Acymailing->Configuration->Security under the Advanced section almost at the bottom of the page.
