  • ALT tag for images not available in the editor (having negative impact)

Hi guys,

I know this had already be mentionned like one year ago in this forum.
The feature was on the agenda at the time but I still don't see it in the current version (even Enterprise).

Actually, the ALT tag for images is not available in the editor.
This has two negative impacts :

  1. anti-spam score (f.ex. on your mail-tester.com)
  2. accessibility/html standards

Is this little feature foreseen in a near future ?
Txs !

Marc D.

I agree this is frustrating. I want the best anti-spam score I can get and I can't find a way to add or edit these ALT tags. I really hope this can be fixed very soon.

miracle well, I have just corrected this manually since I had only two images in my newsletter/template, ie logo & banner.

So you click on a block and in the options you can EDIT HTML.
There you can fill in the ALT tag.
(but many times, when I clicked on the APPLY button, it would just ignore my modifications. I think I had to click elsewhere and then the APPLY would work)

This is very manual way to do it.
For a Template with 2 images, OK.
But if you insert several images in each Newsletter you definitely don't want to do it that way.

    Txs jvstratum !

I was not aware about that way of doing it at the moment of insertion of the image.
I was expecting that in the editor !

So when you want to add an ALT tag afterwards, the most "straightforward" way would be to click on "change image" to reselect the same image and to have the opportunity to add/correct the ALT tag. Right ?

Being able to see/edit it directly in the editor would be better I think. The vast majority of people wouldn't think of the two "workarounds".

    Hi,

Indeed, when you need to change the alt or title text the easiest way is to change image, reselect the same image and edit your text.

I don't consider it to be two workarounds. Acymailing is using the cms media manager, so it makes sense to use the features it provides. On the other hand I agree it would be convenient to have two fields for this inside the drag & drop editor.

    5 days later

well well well, here is another little issue related to this topic since I have added two Social Icons (with Acy Editor of course):

Now I discover that there also:

    1. there is no ALT attribute for none of the Social Icons images (and I cannot edit them since it is automatigally created by Acymailing)
    2. somehow, Acymailing found somewhere the old domain name and the url to the images points to the old domain name !?

So how to solve respectively 1. and 2. ?

    Example :
    <img src="https://OLDDOMAINNAME.COM/media/com_acym/images/logo/linkedin.png" width="34" alt height="34" style="outline: 0; text-decoration: none; -ms-interpolation-mode: bicubic; width: 40px; m

    [edit]
when looking directly in the database, I see that the OLDDOMAINNAME.COM appears in three places in the table _acym_configuration... although there seems to be no way to edit those parameters from the Configuration

    dkim_domain (without https://)
    social_icons (with https://)
    website (with https://)

    Hi,

You can replace these domains manually in the database.

Regarding the missing alt text for your social icons you can solve it by removing your social icons block and then add it again. This is something that has been fixed some time ago.

    1.
Yes, I did replace that in the database.
But you can't expect customers to play with the database to fix Acymailing stuff which should be available in the interface 🙂
(or even : why hardcoding the domain name ?)

    2.
Regarding the ALT text, I am using the latest version (well, not the one of yesterday).
So maybe there is something still wrong somewhere...

    Hi,

When you update Acymailing it updates the code, not the contents of your templates. That's why I suggested to remove the social block from your template and then add it again. Alternatively you can create a mail without template and add a social block. Did you try this?

    Txs @jvstratum .

I understand what you say : but actually there was NO social block in none of my Templates / Emails until yesterday morning.
With other words, they were freshly created with Acymailing's latest version.
So the issue is probably still present.

    Hi,

I'm not able to reproduce your issue. Please use the contact form (https://www.acymailing.com/contact/) to raise a support ticket for this and include login credentials for your backend and a link to this thread.
