I have my cron job set up for ACY 5, and it fires every minute without error just like it is supposed to. I have the cron in verbose messaging mode so I know for sure.

I have ACY 5 set up to email 100 every 6 minutes. ACY is set up to send an email on every successful action. I have a VPS with no email hourly or daily limits. I've re-confirmed that no limits are applied.

I have about 13,000 mails queued.

ACY sends out 100 every 6 minutes, and I get ACY notifications just as I should. But only for 6 consecutive batches (600 emails over 36 minutes).

The cron job continues to fire every minute thereafter, but no ACY email notifications for another 43 minutes. ACY is sending 6 batches on time, then pausing 43 minutes, and then sending another 6 batches on time every 6 minutes. Then it pauses again for another 43 minutes while the cron jobs continue to trigger every 6 minutes with no progress. And on. And on.

WHAT IS THIS?

Any ideas anybody?

Regards,

Allen

  • I think I figured it out. Postfix mail manager does not limit emails by default, but it cas a conf file that can be configured to do so to limit email rate even without a policy in place.

    # Limit 500 emails per hour per email address
    anvil_rate_time_unit = 3600s
    smtpd_client_message_rate_limit = 500

    Change 500 to 0, and fixed.

    All of this after Hostwinds swearing to God and all that is holy that my server was not being choked.

    Good night...

    I am having a similar problem with CRON. I recently migrated my website to a new host, but all seemed to be working. I changed a few settings as needed, and MOST of the time it works. However, twice in the past four automatic sending, the cron has not worked. I have had to find the cron url and click it. Then it starts. But 15 minutes later when it is supposed to send out the next batch, nothing happens. I have to manually hit the link again. To say it again, it works sometimes and not others. I need to know that I can depend on this. I just renewed for another year. Can you give me any ideas that I am overlooking?

    I am not running of of ACY's cron server. We have our own running on our server. My cron is firing on the server as it should, and I am getting cron messages from the mailing showing success. I know cron is firing the link as it should. But ACY is not mailing every 6 minutes it should. It only mails 6 batches before quitting for an hour.

    I did not have report saving enabled. I just enabled it or detailed reporting. Good idea!

    I also slowed the pace of the emails to 50 every 6 minutes to see if that changes anything. I'm trying to feel if there are hourly limits creeping in from somewhere I don't know about.

    As is, even activating the cron link from licensing does not kick out any emails in the "silent" period.

    I'll let you know when I get some logging data gathered.

      avkeele
      Just to speed things up, I set ACY to send 50 emails every 2 minutes. The cron is set to fire every minute. I changed reporting to simplified so it would not record all the emails to the log.

      Here is what I get:

      Again, after about 5 successful batch jobs, I see ACY is trying to send, but is failing.

      Any idea's what is going on?

      This is a new VPS for us, su I am not too familiar with it.

        avkeele
        BTW - Why is it hanging at "6 messages processed", when there are 6756 in queue?

          You have probably hit your hourly sending limit

          Check your email server and see f there is any hourly restriction set

            OK, I went back to full logging to get more information. Here is what I get (I redacted the customer private info of course):

            The Send Process stopped because there are too many errors
            The system kept all non delivered e-mails in the queue, so you will be able to resume the send process later

            My host says I don't have an hourly or daily sending limit. That was in my original post.

            Maybe they lie? Sure smells like it.

            Mot sure where to look. Am running Postfix on CWP. There is not PolicyD installed that would throttle it.

            I think I figured it out. Postfix mail manager does not limit emails by default, but it cas a conf file that can be configured to do so to limit email rate even without a policy in place.
