Double versions of AcyMailing in Joomla

Hi,

After moving to a new host I copied back the complete Joomla database. After reinstalling AcyMailing 6, I now have two working components, AcyMailing 5.7.0 and AcyMailing 6.1.4. I am afraid to uninstall the 5.7 component since there are lots of other AcyMailing plugins and modules.

Does anybody know what I have to uninstall without losing data and so that only the 6.1 version remains?

Hi, can't help you, but I have the same problem. Somwthing is wrong with the migration from 5 to 6. Maybe this could be fixed?

Hi,

AcyMailing 5 and AcyMailing 6 are two different instances.
Once you've migrated, AcyMailing 5 is still present as AcyMailing 6 is kind of new component.

This allows to test AcyMailing 6 and make sure it fits your needs before leaving AcyMailing 5 ;-)

I see. But if I have decided me and want to remove AcyMailing 5, which components and modules should I then uninstall?

Hi, if you want to uninstall AcyMailing 5 from a Joomla website, you can go in Extensions => Manage => Manage, search for "acymailing" and remove all the listed extensions except these ones:

AcyMailing
AcyMailing subscription form
AcyMailing - Joomla integration

For future users finding this topic, keep in mind that over time other extensions may be added to AcyMailing 6, you can take a look at the "Version" column and the extension's description to be sure.
You can also install again the AcyMailing 6+ package after uninstalling AcyMailing 5, it will re-install any v6 plugin removed in the process 😉

Thanks Dax but unfortunately looking at the version column doesn't always help. Some of the plugins are marked as version 1.0.0 but seem to relate to AcyMailing 6 - e.g. AcyMailing subscription form 1.0.0.

I've found another plugin that appears to relate to AcyMailing 6:

AcyMailing - JCE integration 1.0.0.

Yes, that one belongs to v6. When you click on the plugin it will also show you that it is related Acymailing v6+.

Thanks, but I couldn't see any indication of which version of the plugin is related to which version of Acymailing. Clicking on the plugin does nothing. If you hover over the title you get some more information, but this doesn't always show which version of Acymailing it is for.

Hi,

When you are in Extensions/Manage/Manage you indeed cannot click on the plugin. When hovering over it you'll notice it is for Acymailing V6+.

When you go to Extensions/Plugins you actually can click on the plugin and it will show you the same info.

Hi! That was a good remark, in the next version of AcyMailing 6, the version number of its core plugins / modules will follow the extension's version 😉

Thanks Dax. I think that will be really helpful for people moving from version 5 to 6. Perhaps you could also make sure that the plugin description text makes it clear that the plugin is for version 6.
