Displaying fields if...

Afternoon folks

I have a custom field that appears if another field is set to yes. How can I show or hide that field in a newsletter? For example:

Have you got a service contract - Yes
The provider question and field is shown on the newsletter
Have you got a service contract - No
The provider question and field is NOT shown on the newsletter

I have tried this tag but the field doesn't appear, am i doing something wrong?

{if:var.{subtag:service=Yes}{subtag:spp}{/if}

The service subtag is two radio buttons yes/no

The subtag spp is a text box

Any advice please?
