AM 7 uses default editor?

I’ve just installed version 7 (were using v. 5) and I don’t see the new editor. AcyMailing just uses whatever editor the admin user has selected (or the default). I can’t see how to insert articles into e-mails. Also the v.5 tag in our template no longer inserts that Joomla content either.

The import from v.5 was pretty smooth, but it didn’t import all the old newsletters which is a huge disappointment.

The v5 templates and emails are imported as html, that's why you see the default editor.

When creatinmg a new template Acymailing offers you to choose to create a html template with the default editor or a new template with the new drag & drop editor. When creating a new email the drag & drop editor is used by default. If you would like to continue with html you should start from a html template,.

We fully focus on the drag & drop editor. That's why we suggest to recreate your templates in the new drag & drop editor.

As for the Joomla articles, I guess you refer to smart newsletters. These are in v7 referred to as automatic campaigns and you need to recreate those. V7 is using complete different techniques compared to v5. Because of the huge difference smart newsletters cannot be converted and have to be recreated.

Do we need to now create one of these automatic ‘campaigns’ to do this for a category of articles?

Also, I now see these automatic ‘campaigns’ aren’t available in the basic version, so you’ve removed functionality which is pretty mean. We’re just a small club run by volunteers; we’re not marketing anything and we don’t have a budget for software.

Yes, in the Starter version you still can insert one article or a number of articles from a category in a single mail. In the drag & drop editor you simply drag the article content block into your design and specify which article(s) to load.
